The Friends of St. Davids are hosting a pig roast at the St. Davids Lions Club Sunday, June 23.
Porchetta in the Park is a family event — bring friends and lawn chairs, says Greg Walker, one of the organizers.
The event starts at 2 p.m., rain or shine. Tickets are $25 for members of the Friends of St. Davids, $30 for non-members, and $10 for kids under 13.
Slow-roasted pork sandwiches will be served with sides, and there will be a children’s menu and kids’ activities, as well as ice cream for all and a cash bar by the St. Davids Lions Club.
The village social club was conceived when, in the summer of 2018, St. Davids resident Dorothy Walker published her book A Village in the Shadows, which tells the story of the village from its earliest times. Following the launch of her book Walker said she met many people in St. Davids, and during conversations with them decided the village needed a social focus. She and her husband Greg approached a group of friends and organized an event close to Christmas in the Ravine Winery’s barrel cellar. Since then, the Friends have launched a monthly pub night, a Mahjongg group, a Nine & Dine golf event, and a lunch club. Porchetta in the Park is the social club’s next event.
