We have seen the end of one era and the beginning of a new one and we look forward to another great year at Newark Neighbours.

We cannot begin to express our thanks for the innumerable donations of food, money and gifts that were received in December to help make the Christmas for our 36 registered clients (total of 67 individuals including children and other family members) such a blessing. Special thanks go out to  all those who donated food, gifts and money including the following:  Chautauqua Candlelight Stroll, NOTL Library, NOTL Hydro’s Santa Claus Parade collection, Virgo Hansen, NOTL Palliative Care, Bethany Mennonite Church Boys Club and Pioneer Girls, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian  Church, Lauren Bubnic, Stone Road Village residents, Mary and Paul McHoull, Wendy and Bill  Barber, Donna Bruce, Vintage Hotels, Sylvia Bosco, Jeep Group, Hendriks valu-mart and Phil’s valu-mart, Walkers Fruit Farms, and Kent Heritage Farms.

Special thanks go out to all the folks who sponsored our food client families; they were so grateful for all the gifts they received.

The generosity of our community continues to amaze us, and the number of hours put in by our dedicated volunteers was beyond anything we expected, allowing us to help those in need. Some volunteers helped stuff Christmas stockings and weekend nutritional food bags for Food4kidsNiagara, and the smiles on their faces indicate how they enjoyed being part of this “giving back.”

With the start of a new year, the need for food continues and the shelves will soon  become empty.

We are open at our John Street location Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 310 John Street East (off the Riverbend Inn & Vineyard’s driveway to the right). Please come and support our Thrift Shop.

We appreciate and value the generosity of our community for your donations, which allow us to continue our mission of “Serving our Community with Compassion, Care and Concern.” Making this mission a reality would not be possible without all of our volunteers whose time and effort we greatly appreciate.
