This week on Auchterlonie on Astrology I’ll look at the period from Thursday, Jan. 23, to Wednesday,  Jan. 29, and the new Moon in Aquarius on Friday, Jan. 24.

On my podcast I’ve got a look at Indigenous North American astrology, and the week of Sunday, Jan. 26, through Saturday, Feb. 1. The website is https://www.looking
upwithbill.com/podcasts.html.

Now, the week ahead.

Thursday, Jan. 23: Today is the end of the Moon in Capricorn for this month. And the end of this Lunar Cycle as the New Moon in Aquarius is tomorrow, Jan. 24. There are two astro-events today that are very significant. One is the Sun making a challenging ninety-degree (square) aspect to Uranus just past midnight, which may make for some exciting dreams, or which may wake us up with visions and ideas for the future. The second astro-event is at breakfast, when Venus in Pisces gets a friendly bump from Jupiter in Capricorn. This has positive connotations for health and relationship matters. Jan. 23, 1986, was the first induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Inductees included Chuck Berry, James Brown, Ray Charles, Fats Domino, the Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley.

Friday, Jan. 24: It is all new, starting at 4:41 p.m., when the Sun and the Moon are at the same place in the sky for the new Moon in Aquarius. It’s the beginning of a month of surprises, and also includes long-range planning changes that promise to be better than what we’ve currently got in mind. It’s a good plan to make an ongoing list this month of short, medium and long-term goals, and look at and revise the list at least once a day. It’s also a particularly busy Friday, with the Moon making eight connections before the day is done.  It was Jan. 24, 1984, that the Macintosh family of personal computers designed, manufactured and sold by Apple Inc. went on sale.

Saturday, Jan. 25: Mercury, Mars and the Moon are very close together today, all in the constellation of Aquarius. It’s an intense Saturday with forward-looking ideas, especially ideas about health and work matters. It was Jan. 25, 1759, that the Scottish poet, Robbie Burns was born.

Sunday, Jan. 26: While the Moon moves from futuristic Aquarius into imaginative Pisces at 6:43 p.m., the big astro news is Venus in Pisces making a ninety degree connection with Mars in the early evening. Venus is feminine. Mars is masculine. This could be a showdown. Or it could be an adjustment in one or more relationships, an adjustment that is long overdue. And today, the Great One, Wayne Gretzky, celebrates birthday number 59.

Monday, Jan. 27: This has the potential to be one of the sweetest days ever, as Venus and Neptune connect in imaginative Pisces, promising warm turns in relationships and even with the potential of good financial news.  And the light bulb and the TV both celebrate birthdays today. Edison patented the light bulb on Jan. 27, 1880. And the first TV broadcast was this day in 1926.

Tuesday, Jan. 28: It’s another super-active Tuesday, as the Moon in Pisces makes eight connections while Mars in Sagittarius is ninety degrees from Neptune in Pisces, and Venus in Pisces makes a stressful hook-up with Uranus in Taurus. Be aware of accidents that may hurt your feet. Or your hips. Or both. And try to turn a tense situation positive, by being open to change. Singing superstar Sarah McLachlin celebrates birthday number 52 today.

Wednesday, Jan. 29: After all the activity of yesterday, here’s a day where there’s not a lot going on, although the Moon is in energetic Aries from the early morning to the dark of night. Today is the birthday of Coca Cola — the company was incorporated Jan. 29, 1892.

Next week is the First Quarter Moon in Taurus, on Saturday, Feb. 1.

As Joni Mitchell said: “We are stardust. We are golden.” So shine on!
