The Town is ready to have its bylaw officers enforce provincial orders regarding COVID-19.

Town staff have been notified by the Province that with police resources stretched, local enforcement staff can provide assistance.

The Town’s bylaw officers are set to enforce orders pertaining to the closure of public places and businesses; events and gatherings of more than the five people, which are prohibited under provincial order; and price gouging. These are just three of 15 emergency orders, which can be found online at https://www.ontario.ca/page/emergency-information#emergencyorders.  Community members wanting to report a contravention of these emergency orders are asked to contact Niagara-on-the-Lake bylaw enforcement by email ([email protected]), phone (905-468-3266), or through an online complaint form.

The fines for these offences range from $750 to $1,000

Do not call 911 to report these concerns. After-hours complaints or urgent issues can be reported by calling the Niagara Regional Police Services non-emergency line, at 905- 688-4111.
