Now that Niagara-on-the-Lake buses have stopped running, the provider of public transit is offering a free, contactless delivery service of essential items for residents.

“These are indeed trying times,” says Casey McNab, president of the Community Transport Group, which also offers charter bus and local livery services. It is difficult for residents to shop for basics and stay connected, he says. In response to COVID-19 and its effect on our community, and the “urgent necessity for residents to remain at home,” the transport company will continue to offer the delivery service until municipal transit resumes.

The delivery service is available Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For delivery requests, call 905-468-4132, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for service the following day. Requests for Monday need to be made by Friday at 4:30 p.m. Same day requests will be accommodated based on availability.

This service is available to all residents of Virgil, Old Town, Queenston St. Davids and Glendale, and pickup from any NOTL business with pre-payment of purchase.

“Please stay home and let us bring what you need to you,” says McNab. “We all need to work together during this critical time help one another, and do our part.”
