This week in The Local Auchterlonie on Astrology,  we look at the week of April 30 through May 6,  including the first quarter Moon in Leo on Thursday, April 30.

On my podcast, a peek at the astrology of the coronavirus pandemic, which I predict to level and then wane, beginning May 29.

But now, the week ahead:

Thursday, April 30: The Sun is in stubborn Taurus and the Moon is in luxurious Leo, and they together form a perfect 90 degree angle at 4:38 p.m. One part of you says yes, yes, yes. The other part says no, no, no. Fortunately a clever idea later this evening opens a door that was previously invisible. This is the door to tomorrow! Happy birthday to the World Wide Web, begun April 30 1989 by Thomas Berners-Lee – a scientist working in Switzerland.

Friday, May 1: The quarter Moon standoff continues today, with the added tension of the Moon in Leo opposite Mars in Aquarius. Be careful of bumped heads and broken toes. On the first day of May, 1896, seven days after the Dissolution of Parliament in Ottawa, Sir Charles Tupper was sworn in as Canada’s fourth Prime Minister.

Saturday, May 2: An earthy weekend gets underway as the Moon moves from Leo into discriminating Virgo just past midnight. Clever ideas, delightful surprises and a kind of harmony rule this wealthy Saturday. He spent a lot of his youth in Nova Scotia and then in his teenage years, in Vancouver, so he seems almost Canadian. Today Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson celebrates birthday number 48. Remember him as ‘The Tooth Fairy’ when he traded in his NHL skates for wings and a magic wand?

Sunday, May 3: Today you may feel as though you are suffering writer’s block, even though you are not the least bit interested in writing. It’s as if your imagination and your logical mind can’t show up on the same page at the same time. Clear your head of any and all ideas, and wait for something to come to you, He played goal for 11 years for the Philadelphia Flyers and during his tenure he became the first goalie to score, and the first goalie to score during a playoff game. Today, Rex Hextall turns 56 years old.

Monday, May 4: The Moon moves from finicky Virgo into balancing Libra early in the morning, and connects with in-charge Saturn and logical Mercury during the day. Get things done!  Or at least get a plan to get things done. A fledgling Canadian environmental organization officially changed its name to The Greenpeace Foundation on May 4, 1972.

Tuesday, May 5: So the Moon in Libra is supposed to be peace-seeking. Why then is this Tuesday loaded with tension? Perhaps because peace at any price is too high a price to pay? A creative solution may require some ingenious new ideas or artistic displays to wow the audience. She was an instant hit with her first single, and three years later won a Grammy for her song Skyfall, the theme to a James Bond film by the same name. She’s a musical throwback, who is as contemporary as can be. Adele turns 32 today.

Wednesday, May 6: Today is the day before the full Moon as the Moon moves into secretive, sexy Scorpio at 3:04 ta.m. Be on your toes as the Moon opposes Uranus in the middle of the afternoon, unleashing the potential for an accidental leg event. On May 6, 1987, Mario Andretti set a speed record at Indianapolis, at 218.204 MPH.
