This week on Auchterlonie on Astrology I look at the week of Sept. 3 through Sept. 9, including Mars turning retrograde on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

Now to the week ahead:
Thursday, Sept. 3: Recovering from the full Moon is easier, thanks to positive connections between the Moon and Pluto and between Mercury and Saturn during the midnight hours. But an idea connected to this full Moon demands resolution today. It was on Sept. 3, 1752 that Britain and the British Empire, including Canada and America, adopted the Gregorian Calendar, losing 11 days in the switch. Riots ensued, as people believed the governments had stolen 11 days from their lives.
Friday, Sept. 4: Words and ideas can be physically painful today. Open your mind for change and try not to bump your head. Today is the birthday of the roll film camera, patented by George Eastman on Sept. 4, 1888, in Rochester, N.Y. under the name ‘Kodak.
Saturday, Sept. 5: Mercury moves from discriminating Virgo into balancing Libra this afternoon. It’s a dramatic change in the way some people think, changing from finicky to more considerate. Actor Michael Keaton, winner of an Oscar for best actor or his portrayal of Birdman, celebrates birthday number 69 today.
Sunday, Sept. 6: Venus moves from emotional Cancer into loving Leo early this morning, setting up a period where life is a little more flamboyant and creative. At about the same time, the Moon moves from fiery Aries to earthy Taurus. So today that creative drive is well-grounded. The barcode was invented by Norman Joseph Woodland and Bernard Silver, and patented in the U.S. on Sept. 6, 1951. The invention was based on Morse code, that was extended to thin and thick bars.
Monday, Sept. 7: With harmony between the Sun and the Moon and Jupiter, things should go easily today. Good news from a medical person tops the list of potentials. On Sept. 7, 1902, the entire country of Australia observed a day of humiliation and prayer, as a prolonged drought had destroyed crops and farm animals. It began to rain three days later.
Tuesday. Sept. 8: Another positive, energetic day thanks to Venus, Saturn and Pluto all making good vibes with the Moon, first in Taurus and then in Gemini. It’s time to increase your security! Michelangelo completed his famous sculpture David on Sept, 8, 1504.
Wednesday, Sept. 9: Today Mars turns retrograde and stays retrograde until Nov. 15. It’s a period of a little over two months, where everything seems upside down. Hopefully some good will come from it. And today British Actor Hugh Grant turns 60.
And that’s Auchterlonie on Astrology for this week. Next week it’s the third quarter Moon in Sagittarius on Thursday, Sept. 10.
