Welcome to Auchterlonie on Astrology, a look at the week of Oct. 8, with the third quarter Moon in Cancer on Friday.
On my podcast you can also hear about Mars retrograde in Aries – The Hero’s’ Journey, courtesy of our friends at AstroButterfly. You can also hear about all the important aspects for this month, and find out how to obtain your own personal birth chart, including a forecast for the year ahead.
Now, the week:
Thursday, Oct. 8: It’s all over by noon today. By that, I mean all the astro moves are made by then. The Moon moves into Cancer, setting up tomorrow’s third quarter Moon. Significantly, Venus and Chiron connect with the promise that if you play a better game, you can grow younger and healthier. And it was Oct. 8, 1645 that the first hospital opened in Québec thanks to Nurse Jeanne Mance.
Friday, Oct. 9: Today is the day of the third quarter Moon in Cancer and at the same time a quarter Mars (in retrograde) to Pluto. It’s time to wrap up loose ends on short term projects, and a time to align one’s ego with the power of the Cosmos. You know you can’t fight forever. Figure out how to win. It was 101 years ago today that the Cincinnati Reds beat the Chicago White Sox five games to three to take the World Series, even though the Sox had thrown the series in what came to be called, the Black Sox Series.
Saturday, Oct. 10: Classically, the Moon square to Mars means nothing gives today. We have that to deal with today. Fortunately, we also have Venus and Uranus in perfect harmony early this evening, creating a situation where, with a bit of charm, a dream can come true. On Oct. 10, 1975, Elizabeth Taylor married Richard Burton for the second time. She was married on five other occasions.
Sunday, Oct. 11: If you want to start a new study or diet or exercise program, today is the day to go for it, as Jupiter and the Sun connect with a bit of energy (maybe too much energy). But still, if you feel a chance, then take it. And it was 45 years ago tonight that Torontonian Lorne Michaels launched Saturday Night Live, with George Carlin as host.
Monday, Oct. 12: It’s an incredibly busy start to the work week, with seven Lunar connections and Jupiter contacting Neptune and Mercury with Venus. It’s a day full of good fortune and good feelings. Go for what you really, really want. The White House used to be known as The Executive Mansion. Until Oct. 12, 1901 when Teddy Roosevelt renamed it by the name we still use today.
Tuesday, Oct. 13: As if we didn’t have enough going retrograde right now, today, at 9:04 p.m., Mercury turns Retrograde for several weeks, turning direct again on Nov. 11. It’s a good time to review ideas and plans, and see where improvements can be made. Today, were he still alive, Dwight David Eisenhower would be 130 years old. After winning the Second World War, he went on to serve as America’s 34th president. He warned of the growing ‘military-industrial complex that was assuming political power in America and elsewhere.
And that is Auchterlonie on Astrology for this week.
