Welcome to Auchterlonie on Astrology, a look at the week of Oct. 29, with the full Moon in Taurus on Saturday, Oct. 31.

On my podcast you can also hear about the presidential election in the U.S. on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

The podcast is at www.auchterlonieonastrology.ca.

Now, the week ahead:

Thursday, Oct. 29: The Moon and Mars make for energetic and honest activity today. Maybe too energetic, if that’s possible. Also, a medical situation changes for the better. On this day in 1923 in Austria, Carl Djerassi  was born, a boy who grew to become a chemist. He’s not famous, but he is the ’father’ of the birth control pill. Now there’s a sentence that begs analysis.

Friday, Oct. 30: The Moon moves from super strong Aries into mellow Taurus in the dinner hour, setting up the situation that will create the circumstances for the full Moon tomorrow. It is a Friday where soft niceties are thwarted by stern Saturn, who must be obeyed at all costs. Be honest and do not be afraid. Argentine soccer great Diego Maradona celebrates birthday number 60 today.

Saturday, Oct. 31: The full Moon in Taurus is at 10:41 a.m. at eight degrees of Taurus. and eight degrees of Scorpio, respectively. Also, at eight degrees of Taurus is Uranus. Retrograde!! It’s a day when feelings are going backward, and the future looks like the past. On All Hallows Eve (Halloween) in 1632, in the Dutch City of Delft, Jan Vermeer ,a brilliant painter whose small pictures would capture the world for nearly 400 years, was was born on this day.

Sunday, Nov. 1: Despite an overall laid-back feeling permeating the day, a couple of nagging disagreements keep an edge to the start of the week. Do not fool yourself and everything should work out fine. Today is the day, in 1997, that the world got to see Niagara Falls native, James Cameron’s Academy Award-winning film, Titanic, for the first time at the Tokyo Film Festival. (It won the Oscar in 1998.)

Monday, Nov. 2: The Moon moves from value-conscious Taurus to talkative Gemini this morning, and while it is pleasant, it’s not terribly productive. Today is the 53rd birthday of Derek Porter, Canadian rower (Olympic gold, M8, 1992; World Championship gold single sculls 1993), born in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Tuesday, Nov, 3: After just a few short weeks, Mercury turns direct. The fireball turned Retrograde on Oct. 15, and turns direct at 12:14 p.m. today. Finally, all those lost objects and ideas return. And Canadian flying ace William George Barker was born Nov. 3, 1894. He is a Victoria Cross recipient and hails from Dauphin, Manitoba.

Wednesday, Nov. 4: A busy start to the day may be too busy. But a strong harmony between the Moon and Mercury makes for clever ideas and words. Mathew McConaughey celebrates birthday #51 today. Is he more famous for Dallas Byers Club or his TV commercials for Lincoln motorcars? Either way, is a unique star.

And that is AonA for this week. Next up it’s the third quarter Moon and Mars turns direct.

Until then, shine on!
