Welcome to Auchterlonie on Astrology, a look at the week of Dec. 17, with the First Quarter Moon in Aries.

On my podcast you can also find out about the great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn on Dec. 21. And how to obtain your own personal birth chart including a forecast for the year ahead. The podcast is at www.auchterlonieonastrology.ca.

Now, the week ahead:

Thursday, Dec. 17: Saturn moves into Aquarius just past midnight. The Moon moves into Aquarius about one hour later. One minute later they are in the same spot in the sky. A Moon-Saturn conjunction is one of the most demanding aspects in astrology. It promises realities that align with ‘the nasty old man.’ Expect reality to not give in easily to what you want today. Remember , there is tomorrow. On Dec. 17, 1874, in what was then called Berlin, Ontario (now Kitchener-Waterloo) was born Canada’s t10h Prime Minister, Mackenzie King. Actually, he was PM twice, first from 1921 to 1930, then from 1935 to 1948.

Friday, Dec. 18: This is way more positive than was yesterday with the Moon and Mars in a friendly connection that brings oodles of energy to whatever you need or choose to do. And it was 11 years ago on Dec. 18, 2009 that James Cameron’s Avatar was released in America. Cameron had sketches for the film going back to his days as a high school student in Niagara Falls.

Saturday, Dec. 19: Another positive day as Jupiter joins Saturn in Aquarius, and Venus and Mercury make nice plays as well. It’s a day for clever, far-sighted ideas, charming self-help opportunities and a whole new way of seeing the future. Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol was published on this day in 1863. In its first day it sold over 6,000 copies.

Sunday, Dec. 20: With the Moon in Pisces making sweet with Neptune there as well, it’s a day to let your imagination focus on things you want, not just for Christmas, but for now and forever. Today, two-time Academy Award nominee Jonas Hill celebrates birthday #37. The two films that got him those nominations are Moneyball and The Wolf of Wall Street.

Monday, Dec. 21: This is the most important day of the year as Jupiter and Saturn are in the same place in the sky at 0 degrees of Aquarius. Check out my  podcast at www.auchterlonieonastrology.ca for a 10-minute analysis of this rare and powerful game changer which I have, courtesy of AstroButterfly. In one sentence, everything is much better, starting today. Oh, and today is the winter solstice too. It happens at 6:02 a.m. It’s also the day of the first quarter Moon in Aries which happens at 6:41p.m. Today is the 129th anniversary of the first game of basketball. The game was played in Springfield, Massachusetts, invented by Canadian James Naismith.

Tuesday, Dec. 22: The Moon is in Aries, a fire sign. Venus is in Sagittarius, also a fire sign. It is about as charming and creative and lovely as a Tuesday can be. And Lord Voldemort, aka Ralph Fiennes, turns 58 today.

Wednesday, Dec. 23: With both Mars and the Moon in Aries and with Pluto in Capricorn, it’s  a day to be reactive and not to be too impulsive. Lay back. That won’t be easy but it’s our best bet as we get ready for the holidays. One of Canada’s greatest musicians, pianist Oscar Peterson, died on this day in 2007 at age 82. Born in Montreal in 1925, Oscar took on the world of jazz and was magic.

And that’s AonA for now. Next time it’s Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and a full Moon to boot.

Until then, as Joni says, ‘shine on’.
