Welcome to Auchterlonie on Astrology, a look at the week of March 18, through March 24 including the Vernal Equinox on Saturday, March  20.

On my podcast you can also find out how to obtain your own personal birth chart including a forecast for the year ahead. The podcast is at www.auchterlonieonastrology.ca.

Now, the week ahead:

Thursday, March18: The Moon moves from Taurus intro Gemini this evening while Venus in Pisces gets a friendly nudge from Pluto in Capricorn. It’s good financial news for some, good news about a relationship for some, both for some. Dr. Cluny McPherson was born on March 18, 1879 in St. John’s Newfoundland. Thanks to his invention of the gas mask, thousands of people survived the atrocities of the First World War, and other atrocities since.

Friday, March 19: It’s the last day of winter for 2021 and it  ends with lots of energy, generosity and stability. It was March 19, 2003 that the U.S. began its invasion of Iraq, despite world opinion against the war and the mis-proven (non-existent) weapons of mass destruction.

Saturday, March 20: Happy birthday to all Aries. And Happy New Year to everyone. On March 20, 2020, Sun entered Aries, which meant that we have the official start of a new astrological year. If 2021 had a birth chart, it would be cast for March 20. Last year the March equinox chart had Sun conjunct Chiron, and a tense Capricorn stellium. This astrological year, the Sun is closely conjunct Venus and has a much more optimistic vibe. Yes, there is still healing work to be done, but at least now we have an ally. Life doesn’t have to be that hard. Today number 4 celebrates number 73. Bobby Orr, the greatest defenceman to play in the NHL was born March 20, 1948, in Parry Sound.

Sunday, March 21: Venus enters Aries, hand in hand with the Sun, getting ready for a total rebirth of the heart. There is a beauty and innocence to Venus in the first sign of the zodiac. Her heart is pure, and she instinctively knows what she wants. It was March 21, 1973, that Frank Mahovlich became the fifth player in NHL history  to score 500 goals. He was playing for the Montreal Canadiens.

Monday, March 22: The Moon, in her home sign of Cancer, is part of a confident, thoughtful and somewhat surprising start to the week. It was March 22, 1931 that William Shatner was born in Montreal. While he is most famous as Captain Kirk of Star Trek, he has enjoyed comedic performance success with Boston Legal and more.

Tuesday, March 23: Mercury (at 11 degrees Pisces) is square Mars (at 11 degrees Gemini). Mercury-Mars squares have a reputation of being confrontational, however Gemini and Pisces are mutable, and rather compromising signs. If anything, Mercury square Mars is about “let’s sort things out” rather than having arguments for the sake of having arguments. Today, former Buffalo Sabre and Leaf goaltender, Daren Puppa, celebrates birthday number 56.

Wednesday, March 24: It’s a difficult day when the Moon and Saturn are at opposite spots in the sky. It’s as if we all are not mom’s (or dad’s) favourite. Bite the lip. Be honest with yourself. This too shall pass. One half of the animation team of Hanna/Barbera – Joseph Barbera, was born on Mar. 24, 1911. TV cartoons would never be the same after Tom and Jerry, the Flintstones and the Jetsons, among others.

And that’s AonA for now.

Next time, a couple of rare events make things  better.

Until then, shine on!
