Newark Neighbours is the only food bank and thrift shop serving Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. It has operated since 1971.Newark Neighbours is a registered not-for-profit organization with an elected Board of Directors and entirely volunteer staff. We don't receive financial support from any level of government, and our continued operations rely solely on donations received and sales from our thrift store. Newark Neighbours Thrift Shop sells donated clothing and footwear for women, men and children, as well as jewelry, accessories, household items, small appliances, collectibles and more. Anyone may shop at the Store.
Many people are surprised to learn that there are people in Niagara-on-the-Lake who rely on the services of our food bank to increase their food security. Yet, after 50 years of service, Newark Neighbours is still a vital service in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Thanks to donations to the food bank and the thrift store, we're able to offer registered clients a selection of groceries every two weeks, plus special holiday meals. We also provide limited food supply support to other local food banks (if possible) and manage a bursary program for local students as well as support other charities and programs in the region.
