UPDATE: Access to NOTL's Gage Street access closed

Access for residents and emergency benefits will remain open.

Town spokesperson Marah Minor told The Local Tuesday morning that the town, through its contractor Rankin Construction, is removing and replacing a road-crossing culvert on Dorchester Street at Gage Street, but could not say when closures begin.

However, residents in that neighbourhood told The Local today it is now closed.

The section of road over the structure will be closed to all through traffic for the duration of construction. This closure is necessary to facilitate a shorter construction schedule, said Minor. A detour route is provided around the site for traffic. "Staff will reclose the temporary access when work is complete."

Access for residents on Gage Street west of Dorchester has been built through the unopened portion of the road allowance to Nassau Street, Minor says, and will also provides access for emergency services.
