The Crossroads Marathon of Hope was a great success, raising $2,024 for The Terry Fox Foundation! In class, students learned about Terry Fox’s courageous battle and incredible legacy, then walked, ran and or skipped around the schoolyard to honour his journey and that of others affected by cancer.
On Sept. 30, students at Crossroads observed the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation by continuing the daily work we do at school and wearing Orange to honour the Survivors of Residential Schools and those children that did not return, as well as their families and communities.
Teachers used curriculum-based school board resources developed by the Indigenous Education Department to develop lessons in which students engaged in age-appropriate learning about Truth and Reconciliation.
In sports, coached by Mr. Murray and Danny our Co-op student from Laura Secord Secondary School, the intermediate co-ed soccer team made Crossroads proud with their perseverance, integrity, athleticism and energy at their one-day tournament.
The junior co-ed soccer team had a fantastic showing at their one-day tournament in September. Coached by Mr. Rivett, the team displayed excellent citizenship on and off the field, immense development in their skills, and an inspiring example of teamwork.
