Eight students receive scholarships from the Niagara Home Builders Association

NIAGARA HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION

For over 14 years, The Niagara Home Builders’ Association has been granting scholarships to individuals entering into post-secondary education.

The Scholarship Program was established to recognize the importance of continuing educational studies beyond high school. Since its conception, the NHBA has awarded over $48,000 to students pursuing a career within a variety of fields which have included, but not limited to; engineering, health sciences, teaching and business studies.

This year, eight young individuals were awarded scholarships, each following a different career path. The winners of the 2024 NHBA scholarship include:

Alexander Obdyen – Sponsored by Mabo Westside Construction, Alexander will attend Fanshaw College in London to study Construction Engineering Technology.

Ashlyn Shapardanis – Sponsored by Empire Communities, Ashlyn is a second-year student at Trent University pursuing a career in Teacher Education.

Brittney Sykes – Sponsored by Dufferin Concrete, Brittney has selected to attend Niagara College (Welland campus) this September to pursue a career as a dental assistant.

Damian Long - Sponsored by Hummel Properties Inc, Damian will continue his educational studies at Georgian College as a second year Civil Engineering Technologist student.

Katrina Barless – Sponsored by Kenmore Homes, Katrina has selected to continue her educational journey by attending Brock University working towards her Bachelor of Science – Earth Science.

Mohammed Ammar Khan– Sponsored by Arcadis Group, Mohammad will be attending McMaster University, where he will study Health Sciences – Nursing.

Nick Obdyen – Sponsored by Mabo Westside Construction, Nick has selected the path of studying Construction Engineering & Technology at Fanshaw College in London, ON.

Taeya Carl – Sponsored by Habitat for Humanity Niagara, Taeya will attend Queens University, where she will study Civil Engineering

Awarded scholarship funds are raised through the Associations annual “Golf Classic” which took place this year on June 4, 2024, at Thundering Waters Golf Club in Niagara Falls.
