Embrace the love of literacy: Join Summer Reading Club at NOTL library

Looking for something for kids to do this summer? The NOTL Public Library has lots to offer to foster a love of reading.

As the days grow longer and the sun shines brighter, the Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library is excited to announce its annual Summer Reading Club.

Running throughout the summer months, this vibrant program is designed to inspire a love of reading in children of all ages, from babies to teenagers.

Each week, children are invited to join the fun at our meet-ups, where they can share their reading adventures, discuss the books they’ve enjoyed, and connect with fellow young readers. These gatherings are not only a fantastic way for kids to talk about their favourite stories but also an opportunity to earn a special token for their reading map. As the summer progresses, these tokens will mark their journey through a world of imagination and discovery.

To keep the excitement alive, a new theme is introduced every week. These themes serve as a springboard to inspire children’s reading choices, but they are free to explore any book that captures their interest. Whether it’s a fantastical adventure, a thrilling mystery, or a heartwarming tale, the goal is to nurture a love of literacy that will last a lifetime.

The Summer Reading Club is more than just reading; it’s about forging a community of young readers who uplift and motivate each other. It’s a space where stories leap off the pages and children can share their unique perspectives and insights. In addition to the Summer Reading Club, we are excited to offer a wide array of children’s programs throughout the summer, with 14 different activities running weekly. Our pop-up library will travel throughout Niagara-on-the-Lake, bringing books and activities to various locations. While most programs will be held at the library, we will have special sessions every Tuesday at St. Davids and our Thursday pop-up library in different locations each week.
