Foxy morning at the fort

While on an early morning drive-about in the Old Town, I was passing Fort George  when I spotted a curious sight. A fox was sitting, seemingly on guard, on top of one of the bastions. Seeing the chance for a unique photo opportunity I turned around and parked nearby. As I ventured closer on foot I was hoping the fox would stay in position. At first, though, it seemed I was out of luck, as it had disappeared from sight.

As I approached closer, however, it reappeared and, amazingly, was accompanied by a cub. The adult fox seemed to be supervising the young one while it playfully explored the area around the bastion. The adult fox, most likely its mother (vixen), was visibly  enjoying the warmth of the morning sun as she sat quietly watching her offspring in play.

For several minutes, I took the opportunity to photograph the pair. They even seemed to study me, showing no real concern, for several minutes. The young cub seemed particularly interested for a short period of time before playfully prancing off.  As I left the two of them behind, I was elated with the experience of seeing these two lovely creature!
