Local legend, 100 years old, still has a weekly outing to Virgil hair salon

Family and friends of Mary Snider know she always looks like she just came from having her hair done. And there is always a good chance she has.

The highly-respected community member and centenarian — she turned 100 in February — is a long-standing client of Bliss Aveda Concept Salon in Virgil, where Elena DeGroot has been Snider’s stylist for some time.

Snider is a bit of a local legend, and not just for always perfectly-coiffed hair. She is a well-known member of the community for her decades of volunteering and has received many awards for her extensive volunteering, through the Virgil Business Association and also with Grace United Church, but has always managed to fit in her weekly outing to have her hair done.
