NEWS RELEASE
NIAGARA PARKS
*************************
Niagara Parks and the City of Niagara Falls will be implementing planned road closures within Queen Victoria Park on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 3 and 4, to help alleviate traffic congestion and gridlock, particularly during the fireworks at 10 p.m.
Beginning at 7 p.m., the Niagara Parkway will be closed to vehicular traffic from Clifton Hill to Fraser Hill. Clifton Hill from Victoria Avenue to Falls Avenue will be closed beginning at 7 p.m. with a full closure in place by 8 p.m., along with Murray Street from the Niagara Parkway to Skylon Driveway. The routes will reopen at 1 a.m. each night.
The scheduled road closures will be implemented at the discretion of the Niagara Parks Police Service and may be adjusted as required. In the case of inclement weather or visitation levels being less than anticipated, the road closures may be modified or cancelled.
By restricting vehicular traffic on these roadways, pedestrians will enjoy improved and safer access throughout the core tourism area during the holiday weekend. This measure will also assist the Niagara Parks Police Service in managing the area and ensuring controlled access for emergency services.
During the road closures, the WEGO Green Line will continue to operate from Rapidsview to Table Rock. Guests are encouraged to take advantage of the many parking lots in the area, especially Niagara Parks’ Rapidsview Parking Lot that offers $10 parking with a shuttle ride to and from Table Rock Centre.
Service delays and disruptions should be expected for any routes travelling through the tourist area. For up-to-the-minute bus arrival information, please download and refer to the “TRANSIT APP.”
