Niagara Region proudly hosts the Niagara Biennial Design Awards, a prestigious bi-annual program that highlights exceptional design achievements within the diverse built environments of Niagara. Established in 2020, this initiative not only honours creative excellence but also underscores the significant economic contributions of Niagara's vibrant community of designers, artists, fabricators, builders, and owners.
“The awards program recognizes projects that skillfully navigate complex issues such as sustainability, livability, inclusivity, vibrancy, and climate change. These criteria reflect the ongoing commitment to elevating Niagara as a hub of innovative and impactful design,” said Khaldoon Ahmad, Manager of Urban Design, Niagara Region.
Projects eligible for consideration must be located within the municipal boundaries of the Niagara Region and completed between Aug. 5, 2022, and Aug. 2, 2024. Additionally, enduring design projects completed before 2022 are eligible, provided they demonstrate lasting influence on current and future endeavours. To nominate a design project, all application forms must be completed before 5 p.m. on Aug. 2, 2024.
