107 members of the Niagara-on-the-Lake Pickleball Club recently participated in a friendly fundraising tournament at Central Community Centre. Players were divided up by skill level and age in mixed, men's and women's doubles categories to compete for medals and bragging rights.
The profit of just over $3,000 from the proceeds of the two-day event was divided up between Red Roof Retreat ($500), Newark Neighbours ($500) and Community Crew ($1,000), the school lunch program that is run out of Central. The remaining $1,000 is earmarked to help pay for the acoustic panel sound barriers that are to be installed at Virgil's outdoor pickleball courts this week. ,
