Welland Canal to close Dec. 26 and be cleared early in New Year

The process to shut down the canal has started with the expectation that all ships will be through early in the new year. No more raised bridges for drivers to worry about, although according to the news release, it could be as late as Jan. 10. It closed last year on Jan. 7.  Read the details here.

Stitching group donates quilts to Newark Neighbours

Members of the In-Stitches quilt club dropped off 26 quilts, which they started making in October, for Newark Neighbours to distribute to families at Christmas. This is the fifth year the women have made quilts for Newark Neighbours. Learn about the quilting club here.
