On Sunday, June 30, 2024 Sylvia Heidebrecht passed away peacefully in her 87th year at her residence at Royal Rose Place in Welland.

She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Gerd (Gary), just this past April. She is survived by her loving son Michael of Welland.

Sylvia will be lovingly remembered by her Arbour siblings, David (Nancy), Keith (Judy), Gail Krikke (Jake), Kathy Watson (late Bill), and her Heidebrecht in-laws, Kurt (Ruth), Ekkehard (Nancy) as well as her many nieces and nephews of both the Arbour and Heidebrecht families. She was predeceased by her parents Herbert and Thelma Arbour, sisters Joan Kent (late John), Valerie Murray (late Frank), Karen MacKenzie (Greg), her parents-in-law Cornelius and Grete Heidebrecht and sister-in-law Irmgard Augsten (late Rainer).

Sylvia was born and raised in Port Robinson with her 7 siblings and many Arbour cousins. She maintained her strong ties to Port Robinson white returning every Sunday as a faithful parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church until it closed its doors. It was then she became an active member of St. Alexander Parish.

Sylvia loved gardening, painting, crossword puzzles, camping and sightseeing with Gary and Mike.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Royal Rose for their care of Sylvia over the last 11 months.

Family and friends will be received at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill on Friday, July 5th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Funeral Mass to celebrate Sylvia's life will be held at St. Alexander Church, 50 Pelham Town Square, Fonthill, on Saturday, July 6th at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Pleasantview Cemetery.
