It is with profound sadness that the family of Bruce McIntyre announce his passing on March 8 th , 2025 at Niagara Hospice, St. Catharines after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Bruce is survived by his loving, caring wife, Lori, his daughter Christine McIntyre (Ernez De La Cuesta), his son Jason (Christina)and cherished grandchildren, Alanna, Nathan and Isabel. Bruce is also survived by his sister, Kathryn McIntyre (David Sebeslav), Patricia McIntyre-Spagnol (David Spagnol) and brother Harvey
(Sandra Shorthouse). Bruce was predeceased by his twin sister, Bonnie and brothers, Paul, Brian and Gavin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved and admired him and also survived by his lifelong best buddy, Pete Jones and shared many years of friendships with his brother in laws, Jim, Billy and Ronnie Davidson.
Bruce was adventurous, never backing away from a challenge or to lend a helping hand. In his early years and being a strong swimmer, Bruce risked his own life by saving a young girl from drowning in the Niagara River. For his act of courage, he was awarded the Canada Medal of Bravery. Bruce had a passion for crafting with wood, building just about anything. He was also a classic car enthusiast owning his own prized 1971 Dodge Challenger and was known to have spent many hours of his spare time tinkering with it.
The last several years of his working career were spent with Tradewood Windows and Doors which he enjoyed and where he gained some lasting friendships.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Hospice Niagara for their kind, compassionate care. If desired, a donation can be made to Hospice in Bruce’s name.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson Burial & Cremation Inc., St. Catharines. The family will honour Bruce with a celebration of life at a later date at his beloved little farm.
