Doubt (Netflix, 2008) manifests itself in many ways. The sister superior of a parochial school is doubtful that the behaviour of her priest towards an altar boy is appropriate. The young boy’s teacher and his mother have a different set of doubts about the situation. Each member of the audience must decide for himself where there is doubt and where there is certainty. There is no doubt (pardon the pun) that the powerful performances of Meryl Streep and Phillip Seymour Hoffman make this film both unforgettable and valuable.
