UPDATE: Reported sexual assault 'did not occur': Police

Police launched an investigation after being told a man broke into a residence and sexually assaulted a woman

Detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) have continued their investigation into a reported stranger sexual assault on Friday, January 31, 2025, at approximately 6:30pm, at a residence in the area of Sodom Road and Willick Road, Niagara Falls.

Following a thorough and extensive investigation, detectives have found that the alleged assault did not occur, and the investigation has now concluded.

The NRPS remains fully committed to investigating all reports of violence and ensuring community safety. We encourage anyone who is a victim of a crime or has witnessed suspicious activity to come forward.

On Friday, Jan. 31 at approximately 6:30 p.m.,  2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended a residence in the area of Sodom Road and Willick Road in the City of Niagara Falls for a break-and-enter, which resulted in a sexual assault. 

Investigation revealed an unknown male suspect broke into a residence then committed a sexual assault on an adult female, in the residence.  

The victim sustained minor physical injuries as a result of the incident.  

The male suspect is described as:

  • Approximately 5’4” - 5’5”
  • Dark brown skin
  • Wore a black mask which covered his face, and half finger gloves 
  • He also wore all black clothing, aside from a dark blue hoodie under his black jacket 

Detectives with the Sexual Assault Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service have taken carriage of the investigation.

Anyone who may have been in the area, anyone with video surveillance or anyone with dash cam footage is also asked to contact detectives.
