An online child exploitation investigation launched by Halton regional police on June 10 ended Thursday with the arrest of a 57-year-old Cambridge man on nine counts of child luring, nine counts of making sexually explicit material available to a child, three counts indecent exposure, and three counts of making child pornography.

The man is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police say the accused was also the subject of similar investigations with Chatham-Kent Police Service and Niagara Regional Police Service which contributed to the criminal charges.

Investigators are concerned there may be further victims. It should be noted that the accused used a number of social media applications, with the user name "Canada Tom”.

Halton Regional Police Service reminds parents of the importance of monitoring your child's online social media presence, and having a conversation with them about internet safety and the disclosure of personal information.

These investigations have been funded and made possible through a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.

Anyone who may have any additional information pertaining to this investigation is asked to contact D/Cst Verreault of the Halton Regional Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit at 905-465-8986.
