Life-threatening injuries reported in Niagara Falls scooter collision

On Monday, July 22, 2024 at about 2:25 p.m., Niagara Regional Police officers attended the area of Drummond Road and Frederica Street in Niagara Falls for a serious collision.

Investigation revealed that a 30-year-old male from St. Catharines was operating a scooter westbound on Prospect Street, before turning south onto Drummond Road. Subsequently, a 72-year-old male from Ohio was operating a Mercedes southbound on Drummond Road when the scooter side-swiped the rear driver side of the Mercedes, causing the driver to fall off the scooter.

The 30-year-old male suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to an out-of-region hospital.

The investigation remains ongoing by detectives with the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit. They are being assisted by detectives with the NRPS Forensic Services Unit. Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at 905-688-4111 option 3, ext. 1008389.

Roads in the area were closed for the investigation and reopened at about 8:05 p.m.
