Man arrested after police respond to threats call

Police were told a man had made threats and had barricaded himself in his house with a possible weapon

On Monday, December 9, 2024, at approximately 12:24am, 3 District (Welland/Fonthill) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the area of Highriver Trail and Waterleaf Trail in the City of Welland, in response to a threats call.

Officers arrived on scene and learned an adult male had made threats and had barricaded himself in his house with a possible weapon.

The Emergency Task Unit, Negotiators, the K9 Unit and 3 District detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service arrived on scene and contained the residence.  At approximately 6:20am, the suspect was arrested without incident.

Nathan J. BOULT (24 years old) of Welland, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a weapon
  • Uttering Threats

BOULT was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place on December 9, 2024 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street in the City of St. Catharines.
