Police seize 83 grams of suspected cocaine from stolen vehicle during traffic stop

Two people face numerous charges as a result

ST CATHARINES — On Sunday Jan. 12, 2025, at approximately 8:22 p.m., 1  District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service were conducting general patrol in the area of Ontario Street and King Street in the City of St. Catharines.  Officers observed a blue sport utility vehicle travelling with no front plate affixed to the front of the motor vehicle. 

As a result, uniform officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle in the area of Glenridge Avenue at Westchester Crescent. 

Further investigation revealed, there were drugs in the vehicle and the vehicle had been reported stolen.

At 8:26pm, the driver and a passenger were placed under arrest. 

A search of the passenger and the vehicle led officers to seize the following: 

  • 83 Grams of suspected Cocaine

Josh Pangallo (18 years old) of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis in open original package
  • Owner operate motor vehicle on highway - no insurance
  • Drive motor vehicle fail to display two plates
  • Permit use of plate not authorized
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
  • Fail to surrender driver licence

A 17 year old male from St. Catharines was arrested and charged with the following offence:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance FTP - Cocaine

Pangallo and the 17 year old male were released on a Form-9 Appearance Notice with future court dates.

The regulations of the Youth Criminal Justice Act of Canada prohibit the Niagara Regional Police Service from releasing the identity of a young person (under 18 years) charged with a criminal offence.
