Reward increased as police continue armed bank robbery investigation

The robbery happened in February 2023

Niagara Regional Police detectives continue to investigate an armed robbery that occurred at a Niagara Falls bank in February of 2023.

On Feb. 23, 2023, at 8:01 p.m. officers responded to the Meridian Credit Union, located at 4780 Portage Road, in the City of Niagara Falls regarding an armed robbery that just occurred. The initial investigation determined two male suspects entered the bank, brandished a handgun, and demanded cash from the employees. The suspects received an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency. No employees received any physical injuries, a police news release says.

The Meridian Credit Union has increased the reward from $30,000 to $50,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the persons responsible.

Suspect No. 1 is described as follows:

  • Black male
  • 50 years of age
  • 6’0” tall, slim build
  • Wearing a black mask
  • Wearing a black jacket
  • Wearing black gloves
  • Wearing dark grey pants
  • Wearing black shoes

Suspect No. 2 is described as follows:

  • Black male
  • 30 years of age
  • 5’9” tall, medium build
  • Wearing a mask
  • Wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with “BARRIE” on the left chest and a maple leaf logo underneath
  • Wearing black pants
  • Wearing burgundy shoes

The suspects are believed to have fled the scene in a white Dodge Caravan with stolen licence plates.
