On Monday night, Niagara Regional Police officers responded to a robbery that had just occurred at a pharmacy located on Scott Street between Niagara Street and Vine Street, in St. Catharines.
Arriving at the pharmacy Monday, Feb.21 at 10:51 p.m., officers determined a lone male suspect approached a pharmacist and brandished a handgun before demanding pharmaceutical drugs and money. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. The pharmacist did not sustain any physical injuries.
Responding officers, with the assistance of the canine unit, quickly converged in the area, but were unable to find the suspect. It is believed he ran north toward the Regent Drive area.
Criminal investigative branch detectives have taken over, with support from forensic services. Area residents and businesses are encouraged to review their CCTV footage for anything that could assist in the investigation.
The suspect is described as a white male, 30 years of age six feet tall and 200 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a dark blue winter toque, dark blue winter jacket, black sweatshirt with white lettering, camouflage pants and brown shoes.
