And just like that, the inaugural Pelham Concert Series at the Old Pelham Town Hall is drawing to a close. Successful and soul satisfying performances by The Sadies in October and Spencer Burton in November are complete, and now it’s time for the last show in the series: Hawksley Workman, which SOLD OUT two months in advance of the show date.

Series co-organizer Jill Primeau said, “It’s certainly fantastic news that this concert has been sold out for so long! It’s a wonderful way to cap off a season full of talent at this beautiful local venue.”

Workman is looking forward to the show on December 14. “I've never played in Pelham before, but have visited and played in the Niagara region many times. It's always an honour to be included in any musical event. I don't take any opportunity to sing and play for granted,” he said.

Workman also mused about his time playing and touring.

When asked if any particular events stood out for him, he said, “I'm lucky that music has allowed me to travel extensively over the last 25 years. A couple of interesting memories might be playing with David Bowie in the Nimes Coliseum or joining my musical hero, Bruce Cockburn on stage over the years as an accompanist, playing songs that I've loved since I was a kid.”

Workman has several great musical acts that he cites as key influences for him over his career. “My biggest musical influences are Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin, Chick Corea, The Smiths, and Bruce Cockburn,” he said.

Asked if he has any advice for future would-be musicians, Workman stated, “I would tell them, only get into the music business if you're truly called to it.”

Workman has been fortunate to have a very busy touring schedule this fall. He quipped, “I'm always thinking about the next record…but I've also been on the road so much this fall that I'm starting to have "domestic" fantasies…like dusting my studio or doing the dishes!”

Hawksley Workman will cap off the inaugural Pelham Concert Series on December 14. This show is sold out. Will there be a second music series at the Old Pelham Town Hall?

Jill Primeau said, “Does Pelham want to see more shows? Let us know…you never know what the future might hold!”
