Lord Mayor Gary Zalepa

"October 6 to 12, 2024, marks Fire Prevention Week, and I want to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to all of our dedicated volunteer firefighters for their service to the Niagara-on-the-Lake community.

Their dedication goes beyond responding to emergencies; they actively participate in public education, equipment maintenance, and community safety initiatives. I would also like to recognize the tremendous efforts of our Niagara-on-the-Lake Fire and Emergency Services Community Risk Reduction Team.

Their focus on fire prevention, safety inspections, and educational outreach is instrumental in enhancing community safety. This year's theme, 'Smoke Alarms: Make Them Work for You,' is a powerful reminder that small actions, such as testing our smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, can make a life-saving difference. I urge everyone to test their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms this week. Stay safe, Niagara-on-the-Lake!" - Lord Mayor Gary Zalepa
