Niagara-on-the-Lake Local received this letter criticizing Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati for his stance against the planned new casino in Toronto.
The prospect of a billion-dollar Vegas style resort and casino being built in north west Toronto appears deeply disturbing to Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati.
He vocalizes this through recent media announcements.
Well, I remember when various protester groups including environmentalists, taxpayers, native members, etc. of all ages came together fighting diligently against the sale and eventual paving over of a unique precious green space, Thundering Waters Forest, which the mayor voted for.
He paid no heed to the cries of those who were desperate to save the special place for now and future generations.
Without any forethought it seems the mayor bypassed the cries of the protesters and let it pass.
Now fast forward to the Mayor letting his disdain for the Toronto casino project be known because he fears loss of revenue for Niagara Falls.
Firstly, what right does he have to dictate what another jurisdiction can build within its own city? Secondly, how does it feel, Mayor Diodati, to see people ignoring your concerns and build and pave despite your strong objections?
The chickens have come home to roost.
