Niagara-on-the-Lake Local received the following Letter to the Editor from reader Joan King, who expresses thanks to the community for its Christmas spirit:

The magic of the Christmas season brings our community together to brighten up Christmas day at Pleasant Manor and Niagara Long Term Care.

Traditions continue for Amika Verwegen and her children, Nova, Fern, Yuna and Kazuhiro as they prepare special cards for the 145 residents. The creativity and thought behind every card is heartwarming along with the riddles to bring a little humour. Thank you for keeping this tradition alive.

The three senior Kindergarten classes at Crossroads School continue to share this spirit of giving when they were able to prepare 67 Christmas stockings. The children are taught the importance of giving back to the community .

The Niagara Lions under the direction of Dorothy Soo Wiens had a special afternoon filling 35 stockings. Palliative Care always find it in their hearts to knit 145 hearts. Thank you Marilyn Bartlett, Dena Broeders, Louanne Rudisuela, Jean Stoddart, and Lorraine Horton.

NEOB Lavendar founder, Melissa Achal generously donated products that Niagara Long Term Care will use as part of their Montessori kits. Also many hand soaps and shampoo bars were donated to all 145 residents.

Most importantly, YOU the community for your passion and generosity in making this initiative one of love and pure joy!

Its not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.

To each and everyone of you thank you for all you do to brighten the Christmas season for our seniors alone and in long term care.

Happy Holidays,

Joan King,
