NEWS RELEASE
FIRSTONTARIO PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE
************************
Fall is bustling with special community events at the PAC. Last week, the imPACt Education Series hosted our first imPACt Plus Production with Music Production students from West Niagara Secondary School. This imPACt Plus experience included a hands on demonstration in Partridge Hall about live sound technology led by our Production team. The program included a student tour of the FirstOntario PAC facility as well as our neighbours at Brock’s Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts.

Also, the Film House hosted two special events last week with Brock and one of our Youth Film Club Alumni!

The Film House hosted the premiere of Round Trip by local filmmaker Wendell Zylstra. Wendell is a former Youth Film Club member who currently attends UBC Okanagan with hopes to pursue filmmaking in the future.

We once again hosted Brock TV's Render This Film Festival, which allows students to create short films based on specific criteria provided. The teams have 2 weeks to create a short film that is then judged by industry professionals and the audience attending the screening. Congratulations to all the participants and winners!

THE MIGHTY NIAGARA FILM FEST
13-17 November

The highly anticipated, hyper-local Mighty Niagara Film Fest (MNFF) returns 13-17 Nov. This showcase of wildly eclectic filmmaking trains a spotlight on both local and international stories told with moving images. This year’s festival presents unique cultural experiences that blend captivating cinema with exclusive local offerings to celebrate all that is and all that matters to Niagara.

We are proud to support the Niagara Artists Centre and host 4 MNFF films at The Film House from 15-17 November.

Titles include: Rumours, Really Happy Someday, Universal Language and Matt & Mara

“We’re building a festival for all of Niagara, so we spread the venues across the peninsula,” Festival Organizer, Stephen Remus told the St. Catharines Standard. “That’s something we’ll continue to work on. We want people who live here to have great films brought to their backyard and we want visitors to the fest to get a little further off the QEW."

The fourth annual edition of MNFF offers a dynamic lineup of films and events at venues around Niagara with stops in Grimsby, Niagara Falls, Ridgeway, St. Catharines, and Welland ranging from critically-acclaimed features to bold and innovative shorts.

Individual tickets range from $10 to pay-what-you-can, with Festival Passes available. Visit mnff.nac.org for more details and full schedule.
