Message from the Fire Chief:

We honour our Volunteer Firefighters every day; Niagara-on-the-Lake Fire & Emergency Services volunteer firefighters deliver outstanding service to the residents and visitors of our beautiful town. Whether it’s responding to calls at any hour, participating in training sessions, inspecting and maintaining equipment, or conducting public education programs, our volunteers consistently demonstrate their professionalism and dedication to our community.

I would like to extend my gratitude to NOTL Local for acknowledging the significant contributions of our local volunteer firefighters and for their interest in highlighting Fire Prevention Week 2024.

This year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, “Smoke Alarms: Make Them Work for You,” emphasizes the importance of maintaining smoke alarms to ensure they are functioning properly. Early warning of smoke in the home is critical to ensuring you and your family remain safe in the event of a fire.

With Thanksgiving upon us, it was a wonderful time to gather with loved ones. Ensuring the safety of our family and friends by maintaining our smoke and carbon monoxide alarms is one of the simplest ways to show we care. Testing your alarms to ensure they are working and regularly changing the batteries might seem like a small task, but it can have a significant impact in the event of an emergency.

I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for the incredible work our volunteer firefighters do every day. They are parents, siblings, children, and friends. They are committed to their community and to each other.

Sincerely

Fire Chief Jay Plato
