It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Carlos at Niagara Health Marotta Family Hospital at the age of 63. Gina Marcone was his cherished wife for 18 years. Beloved father to Jacquelline Nieves Zamundo, Allen Paul Nieves Zamundo, and proud Abuelo to his five grandchildren, all of them in Mexico. Predeceased by his parents, Paulino Nieves and Teresa Rios, Carlos was one of nine siblings. He will be sadly missed by his dear mother-in-law Maria (the late Giuseppe) Marcone and siblings-in-law Conny (Nick), Orazio (Gabriella) and Mario. Forever remembered by his many nieces and nephews: Victoria (Jeffery), Nicole (Ben), Michael (Amanda), Joseph, Luca, Olivia and Delilah, and his extended and honourary family members.
Carlos loved soccer and all things outdoors, especially his hammocks and flying his homemade kites. Travelling extensively to Mexico, Carlos also loved Italy and planned to travel back there this year. He loved to cook his traditional Mexican meals for family dinners and was often heard to say, “Make it again!”.
Friends will be received at Bocchinfuso Funeral Home Regent Street, Thorold on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM, when a Funeral Liturgy Outside of Mass will be held in the Lamb Chapel of the funeral home.
