It is with great sorrow that we, as family, announce Greg’s passing on October 20, 2024, at NHS-St. Catharines Site.
Survived by wife Eleanor (nee Clemmens), father of Chris (Heather) and Kathryn. Grandfather of Kaitlyn; fondly remembered by Kaitlyn’s mother, Deborah Leigh. Survived by his siblings: Grant (Carolyn), Bruce, Michael (Susan), Patricia Grattan (Graham), Karen Crich (William) and brother-in-law, Barry Clemmens (Wendy).
Greg was involved with his brother, Michael, in the sail training club, onboard both the Pathfinder and Playfair ships, as teenagers. Greg went on to George Brown College taking the navigation course. He worked for fifteen years for Canada Steamship Lines and was promoted to Captain on the Murray Bay in 1980. He became a pilot in 1995 with the Great Lakes Pilotage Authority, District 2, taking “Salties” thru the Welland Canal to Sarnia. He retired in 2018 after 23 years of service.
We honour you, and thank you for all the wonderful trips we took with you knowing you loved your career.
